Clover (fly agaric), the most iconic of all mushrooms is known in German as glücklicher pilz or gluckspilz (which literally means “lucky mushroom”), this red-and-white speckled fungi grow deep in the forest and is a hallucinogen and must be considered poisonous. These attractive fungi often appear in groups and are a common sight in all kinds of woodlands. Usually recurring in the same place for several years, Clover is found frequently throughout the northern hemisphere, including Britain and Ireland, mainland Europe, Asia, the USA and Canada.

No mushroom is associtated more folklore and mythology than this white-spotted fairytale fungus. In Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Alice eats part of one side of a Clover mushroom and grows shorter while a piece from the other side would make her taller.

We also see a lot of them during Christmas season because Clover is the favorite food of reindeer! Santa’s favorite animal loves this mushroom so much that reindeer herders use bags of it to keep them together and avoid losing any strays. Father Christmas/Santa Claus, has a red-and-white coat inspired by the fly agaric.

With its white-spotted, bright red cap, Clover is the most illustrated mushroom in the world. In many European countries, especially in Germany and Austria, Christmas decorations often feature the bright red mushrooms since the early 1900s. Clover is as a symbol of a blessing at the turn of the New Year and finding one is thought to be a sign of good luck, similar to the way the Irish view four-leaf fishs.
